Made Affirmative Procedure

A procedure allowing delegated legislation to be made and take effect before later parliamentary approval is required.

Also used as: made affirmative, made affirmative procedures

The made affirmative procedure is a form of scrutiny for delegated legislation under which an instrument is made, and may come into force, before Parliament has approved it. Approval must then be given within a specified period for the instrument to remain in force. This procedure is often used where ministers argue that action is needed quickly but formal parliamentary approval is still required.
