Accessibility
Last updated: 27th March 2026
Project Open Gov aims to make this website as clear, readable and accessible as reasonably possible.
The purpose of this site is to make information about the UK Parliament and government easier to understand through clear, neutral and accessible public information. Accessibility is therefore an important part of the project and will continue to be considered as the site develops.
On this page:
Our approach
Project Open Gov aims to present information in a way that is simple to follow, easy to read and usable across a range of devices.
This includes aiming to use plain English where possible, clear headings and page structure, readable text, good contrast, and straightforward navigation.
What we aim to provide
Project Open Gov aims, where reasonably possible, to provide:
- clear and consistent page layouts;
- descriptive headings and links;
- readable font sizes and spacing;
- colour contrast that supports readability;
- navigation that can be used with a keyboard where possible; and
- pages that work across mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
The site also aims to avoid unnecessary complexity and to keep content as clear and direct as possible.
Ongoing improvement
This website is still developing, and accessibility improvements will continue as content, pages and features are added or refined.
Project Open Gov recognises that accessibility is not a one-off task. The site will be reviewed over time and practical improvements will be made where possible.
Known limitations
As the site is still being developed, some parts of the website may change over time and some areas may require further refinement.
There may also be occasions where third-party tools, embedded content or future features do not yet provide the same level of accessibility as the rest of the site. Where such issues are identified, improvements will be considered as part of ongoing development.
