Gower stretches west from suburban Swansea across the Gower Peninsula and surrounding communities. Its eastern side includes more built-up neighbourhoods close to the city, while the peninsula becomes increasingly rural and coastal farther west. Settlements such as Mumbles, Killay and communities around north and south Gower sit among farmland, woodland and extensive coastline. The peninsula is known for its beaches, cliffs, bays and open countryside, with the Bristol Channel to the south and the Loughor estuary to the north. The constituency therefore has a pronounced transition from urban and suburban Swansea to villages and sparsely populated rural landscapes, giving it one of the most varied physical settings among Welsh seats.

Asọ Hiraeth is a socially engaged photography project exploring how fabrics exist as material culture within everyday life in Wales — the memory, migration, and belonging they carry for the communities who bring them here. Participants from African and multicultural communities across Wales will be invited to bring a chosen fabric — one that holds personal cultural significance — to be photographed in accessible, artist-led settings. Rather than focusing on clothing or design, the project treats fabric as a living archive: objects that carry stories of home, displacement, identity, and reinvention. The project will result in a curated series of fifteen to twenty-five photographs, a mini exhibition and artist talk at The Canopi, supported by Africa Community Centre and curatorial adviser Fadhili M. Maghiya of SSAP Wales. Asọ Hiraeth contributes a new, representative visual narrative to the cultural record of contemporary Wales.
