Knutsford and Wilmslow are among the principal local centres, with strong road and rail links toward Manchester and the airport corridor. Beyond the main towns, the constituency contains farmland, woodland and numerous smaller villages. The landscape is generally low-density and affluent suburban or rural in character, with major transport routes crossing parts of the seat. Overall, the constituency combines established commuter towns with a substantial countryside hinterland rather than forming one continuous urban area.
