Southgate and Wood Green covers a broad part of north London across the boroughs of Enfield and Haringey. It links the busy town centre and dense residential neighbourhoods around Wood Green with more suburban communities toward Southgate. The constituency is well connected by Underground, rail and bus routes and contains several distinct local centres. Parks, playing fields and green spaces become more prominent toward the northern and western parts. The seat therefore has a clear transition from inner north-London urban development to lower-density outer suburbs, while remaining part of one continuous metropolitan area.
