North East Cambridgeshire covers a broad area of the Cambridgeshire Fens and includes market towns such as Wisbech and March together with numerous villages and rural communities. The landscape is notably flat and low-lying, shaped by drainage channels, rivers and extensive agricultural land. Wisbech is one of the principal commercial centres, while March provides another important market and rail town farther south. Settlement outside these towns is dispersed along roads and waterways. Major routes connect the constituency with Peterborough, King’s Lynn and Ely. Overall, the seat has a strongly rural and fenland character, with a small number of market towns serving a wide agricultural hinterland.
