Chester South and Eddisbury combines southern Chester with a broad rural area extending east and south-east across Cheshire. It includes Chester neighbourhoods such as Handbridge and Great Boughton together with villages and small towns around Tarporley, Tattenhall, Malpas and the Eddisbury area. The constituency therefore changes quickly from suburban and urban communities close to Chester into farmland, villages and low-density countryside. Tarporley provides one of the main rural service centres, while the western part remains closely connected to Chester. The seat brings together communities across the Cheshire Plain rather than following a single continuous built-up corridor.

About this award
This project will provide fully funded riding and stable management sessions to 192 young people from low-income families in the Cheshire. Targeting pupils in Years 10 and 11, particularly those receiving free school meals, bursaries or benefits. The project will deliver out-of-term and weekend sessions and will include 30 minutes of physical activity through riding and hands-on stable management. The six waves will be delivered for 8 weeks, over a period of 48 weeks. Costs requested for equine instructors and equipment.

Wildlife in Cheshire is being squeezed into smaller and smaller corners as habitats disappear. Cheshire’s Wild Network will change that story. Cheshire Wildlife Trust aims to grow a confident, skilled and connected Wild Network of people and community groups who are actively restoring nature where they live, learn and work. We will equip individuals, schools and communities with the practical skills, knowledge and support needed to create, manage and connect wildlife-rich spaces. By focusing on transferable skills, peer learning and long-term engagement, the project will enable people to take effective, evidence-based action for nature and sustain that action beyond the life of the project. Each person supported through the Wild Network becomes better able to influence others, share learning and inspire further action, creating a multiplying effect across Cheshire. Together, we can turn fragmented patches into thriving, connected spaces where wildlife can recover once again.
