Local context
Cheltenham constituency is centred on the Gloucestershire spa town and covers almost all of its continuous urban area. It includes the town centre and neighbourhoods such as Pittville, St Paul’s, Lansdown, Leckhampton, Charlton Kings, Hesters Way and Warden Hill. The seat is predominantly urban and suburban, with Cheltenham itself providing the clear commercial and cultural centre. Toward the eastern and southern edges, development meets the lower slopes of the Cotswolds, while the western side approaches the open land separating Cheltenham from Gloucester. The constituency therefore combines a compact historic centre with extensive residential suburbs rather than a large rural hinterland.
