Birmingham Yardley covers eastern and south-eastern Birmingham and includes Yardley, Stechford, Sheldon, Acocks Green, Small Heath, Tyseley and Hay Mills. The constituency follows a largely continuous urban corridor from neighbourhoods relatively close to inner Birmingham outward toward the Solihull boundary. Small Heath and parts of Tyseley have a denser inner-urban character, while Sheldon and Acocks Green are more suburban. Yardley and Stechford provide established residential and local shopping areas, and major rail and road routes cross the seat toward Birmingham city centre and the airport corridor. Overall, it is a compact urban constituency made up of several long-established east Birmingham communities.
