Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North is a cross-boundary constituency linking eastern Birmingham with two communities in the north of Solihull. On the Birmingham side it includes Bromford and Hodge Hill, Garretts Green, Glebe Farm and Tile Cross, Heartlands, Shard End and Ward End. Across the local-authority boundary it also includes Castle Bromwich and Smith’s Wood. The seat is overwhelmingly urban and suburban, following the continuous built-up area eastwards from Birmingham rather than a rural boundary. Its neighbourhoods include older inner-suburban districts, large post-war housing areas and outer residential communities, with major road and rail routes running through the east Birmingham corridor.
