Beverley and Holderness combines the historic market town of Beverley with a broad area of rural Holderness to its east and south-east. The constituency includes Beverley’s St Mary’s and Minster areas, the surrounding Beverley Rural ward and the Mid, South West and South East Holderness wards. The East Riding describes Holderness as a low-lying, gently undulating landscape between the Yorkshire Wolds, the Humber and the North Sea, with many villages spread across agricultural countryside. Beverley provides the constituency’s largest town and main inland service centre, while the Holderness side contains smaller settlements and stretches towards the Humber and coastal plain. The result is a seat with a strong contrast between a sizeable historic town and an extensive rural hinterland.
