Ashfield is a Nottinghamshire constituency centred mainly on Sutton-in-Ashfield and Kirkby-in-Ashfield, with surrounding communities including Huthwaite, Selston, Jacksdale, Underwood, Skegby and Stanton Hill. The 2024 boundary also reaches into the northern edge of Mansfield. The constituency forms part of the former coalfield area west of Nottingham and contains a close network of medium-sized towns, villages and residential neighbourhoods rather than one single dominant centre. Open land and former industrial sites separate several of these settlements, while major roads connect the area toward Nottingham, Mansfield and Derbyshire. The seat’s current composition is therefore largely urban and semi-urban, but with substantial countryside around and between its main communities.
