A delegated power is a power granted by Parliament, usually in an Act, allowing ministers or another authorised body to make detailed legal rules or take related action later without passing a new Act each time. Delegated powers are a central feature of modern legislation, but the breadth of such powers can raise important constitutional and scrutiny questions.
