Also used as: committee stage of a bill

Committee Stage is the part of the legislative process where a bill is examined in detail. Members consider the text line by line and may propose, debate, and vote on amendments. In the Commons, this often takes place in a Public Bill Committee, though some bills are considered by a Committee of the whole House. In the Lords, committee scrutiny usually takes place in the chamber or in Grand Committee.
