Commencement Regulations

Regulations used to bring provisions of an Act into force.

Commencement regulations are a form of delegated legislation used to bring provisions of an Act into force. Not every part of an Act takes effect immediately on Royal Assent. Commencement regulations allow ministers to decide when particular sections will begin to operate, and different provisions may commence on different dates.
