This project is a portrait series featuring eighteen members of South Wales’ queer community, combining photography with personal conversations about identity and queer joy. Each participant’s voice will be reflected through a short phrase displayed alongside their portrait, creating a powerful and intimate representation of lived experience. Exhibited at the Riverfront Gallery during Pride in the Port, the work responds to a significant moment of visibility as Newport hosts UK Pride. Challenging the tendency to frame queer narratives through trauma, the project instead celebrates authenticity, agency, and joy. Alongside the exhibition, workshops will support queer youth and the wider community in expressing their own stories through creative, interdisciplinary methods. Supported by collaborators and mentors, the project emphasizes care, inclusivity, and community engagement, ultimately expanding the narrative around queer lives and fostering connection, understanding, and pride through shared visual storytelling.
Creu Cymru - The Development Agency for Theatres and Arts Centres in Wales
Objective - To strengthen the marketing capabilities of Theatres across Wales through targeted training, shared resources, and digital innovation. The project is aimed at any staff working in theatres around Wales with a responsibility for marketing and communications and marketing freelancers who support the work of theatres. There may also be sessions aimed at theatre managers / leaders for them to have input into and learn from the project, but they are not the primary target.
Creu Cymru - The Development Agency for Theatres and Arts Centres in Wales
The Rural Touring Dance Commissions programme to support independent and mid career Welsh dance artists, strengthen rural touring infrastructure, and widen equitable cultural access across geographically dispersed communities in Wales. The programme directly addresses challenges identified within the Wales Dance Review and Arts Council of Wales priorities: reduced creation capacity among freelance artists, limited touring opportunities, and uneven access to professional dance in rural areas. This programme integrates commissioning, mentoring, production support and touring pathway development, enabling artists to make ambitious new work while ensuring rural venues and communities benefit from increased opportunities to engage with high quality Welsh dance.
