Clwyd East stretches across north-east Wales from communities close to the English border into the Dee and Clwyd valleys. It includes towns and villages such as Mold, Buckley, Flintshire communities farther south and parts of Denbighshire around Ruthin and the surrounding countryside. The constituency has no single dominant urban centre; instead, it combines several small towns, villages and extensive rural areas. The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley landscape shapes much of the interior, while settlements in the east are more closely connected to the wider north-east Wales and Chester travel area. Its geography therefore combines border communities, market towns, agricultural land and upland countryside.
