Local context
Ceredigion Preseli covers a large part of west Wales, linking most of Ceredigion with communities in north Pembrokeshire around the Preseli area. Its main centres include Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Lampeter and Fishguard, alongside many smaller coastal and inland towns and villages. The constituency has a long Cardigan Bay coastline and extends inland through agricultural valleys, wooded countryside and upland areas, including the Preseli Hills. Settlement is widely dispersed outside the main towns, and many communities are separated by considerable rural distances. The seat therefore brings together university, market and coastal towns with an extensive hinterland of villages, farmland and higher ground across two historic county areas.
