Caerfyrddin covers a large part of Carmarthenshire and is centred on Carmarthen, the county’s main administrative and service town. The constituency also includes Ammanford, Llandeilo, Llandovery, St Clears and Whitland, together with many smaller villages and rural communities. Its landscape is varied, from the lower Tywi valley and agricultural land around Carmarthen to hillier country farther north and east. Settlement is spread across several distinct towns rather than concentrated in one continuous urban area. The seat also reaches toward the western Carmarthenshire countryside, giving it a broad mix of market towns, former industrial communities, farming areas and upland landscapes.
