Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe is a very large constituency spanning much of southern and central Powys and extending into the upper Swansea and Amman valleys of Neath Port Talbot. Its Powys communities include Brecon, Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells, Hay-on-Wye, Knighton, Presteigne, Crickhowell, Rhayader and Ystradgynlais. To the south-west it also includes Pontardawe, Alltwen, Trebanos and communities farther up the Tawe and Amman valleys. The constituency contains extensive upland and rural territory, including large areas of the Brecon Beacons/Bannau Brycheiniog and Radnorshire countryside. Settlement is widely dispersed, with small towns and valley communities linked across a much larger area than most urban constituencies.
