Bangor Aberconwy stretches across north-west Wales from Bangor and the Menai side of Gwynedd east through the Conwy Valley and along the north Wales coast. It includes Bangor, Conwy, Llandudno, Deganwy and Penmaenmawr, together with inland communities such as Betws-y-Coed, Trefriw and villages across the Conwy Valley and neighbouring uplands. The constituency therefore contains several distinct centres rather than one continuous urban area. Coastal towns and resorts sit alongside the university city of Bangor, while the inland section becomes increasingly rural and mountainous toward Eryri and the upper Conwy Valley. Its long east–west shape brings together communities connected by the A55 coast corridor as well as more dispersed settlements away from it.

We wish to deliver ceramic projects as part of an arts and wellbeing focus working with members of Aberconwy Domestic Abuse group. Benefits of the project will include improvement in mental health and wellbeing as we believe that clay can root, calm and stabilise the emotions of the user. As well as encouraging users to feel more in the moment, pottery sessions can help reduce that feeling of disassociation with everything around them and relieve stress.

Home Away From Home (Adra Ffwrdd o Adra) is a new collaborative theatre project between North Wales Africa Society and Cwmni’r Frân Wen, exploring the perennial question, through the eyes of children and young people: what makes a home? Through movement, music and words, and intergenerational dialogue, this project will consider how our heritage, and cultures play a part in our search for home - can home exist in more than one place? Can home truly thrive with different cultures co-existing? This project is a celebration of African and Welsh culture, and how the arts can play its part in bringing people together, to create harmony and a sense of belonging.
