Glenrothes and Mid Fife covers a broad part of central Fife and is centred on the new town of Glenrothes. It also includes nearby former mining and industrial communities together with villages and smaller towns across mid-Fife. Glenrothes is the principal administrative and commercial centre, with a planned layout of residential neighbourhoods, employment areas and green spaces. Beyond the town, settlement becomes more dispersed, with former coalfield communities separated by farmland and wooded areas. Road links connect the constituency with Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Dundee and the wider central Scotland network. The seat therefore combines a substantial twentieth-century town with a varied hinterland of older communities and countryside.
