Glasgow North covers neighbourhoods on the northern side of central Glasgow and extends toward the city’s outer northern boundary. It includes a mixture of dense inner-city streets, established residential districts and lower-density communities farther out. The constituency contains important educational, cultural and transport areas alongside local shopping centres and large parks. The River Kelvin and its valley form a prominent natural feature through part of the seat, while major roads and rail lines connect neighbourhoods with central Glasgow. Development becomes more suburban toward the northern edge, but the constituency remains firmly part of the continuous Glasgow urban area. Its character is therefore varied despite its relatively compact city geography.

About this award
Ceòl is Craic will deliver a programme of Gaelic cultural activity in Glasgow between August 2026 and July 2027. The programme will combine live music events, creative collaborations, mentoring activity and cinema events, offering high quality opportunities for audiences to engage with Gaelic arts. We will include live music events developed with long-term partners, including Roma arts organisation Ando Glaso, an ongoing creative commission with Comhairle nan Leabhraichean, and a cross-cultural event as part of Celtic Connections festival. We will include a new collaboration with Glasgow Life as part of the National Mòd in Glasgow. We will deliver mentoring workshops with Glasgow Gaelic School, continue our weekly Gaelic-language radio show, and present cinema events featuring screenings and Q&A sessions. These activities will create welcoming environments that celebrate contemporary Gaelic culture, encourage participation and connection, reduce isolation, and support Gaelic artists alongside the audiences and communities they serve.

About this award
Cells is an extended research and making period working in collaboration with the scientist dr. Rachel Quilang at the university of Leiden looking into microchimerism, definitions of individual, biological plurality and intimacy at the micro scale. This takes shape as an experimental home residency - a flexible self directed work that adapts to the realities of a young family, and reflects the working alongside young child and baby through elements of playfulness, choice of materials and pace. This visual art project will have outcomes in painting, embroidery, text and moving image and will be expanded by work sheets showing the child friendly collaborative elements that can be used as prompt sheets for future educational activities or as accompaniment to future exhibitions. The work will sit in a wider context of my practice with the focus on ecological thought through multi species relationships, micro scale, and biological history.

About this award
My project engages the image and history of equine labour in Glasgow, while questioning ideas of nature, culture, and what it means to work the land. A working horse and cart hauls trees, tools, and soil alongside an artist moving between the Whisky Bond, the canal, Applecross, and Hamiltonhill Claypits Nature Reserve (HCLNR), where the trees are planted. The project is about the forces of restoration and renewal. The project culminates in exhibitions that combine documentation with archival images of working horses (1850–1950) and a film of the performance, featuring reflections from artists, performers, and the wider community. As a founding board member of HCLNR, I support arts, heritage, and biodiversity. This project involves planting 37 native trees across 3 performances, connecting ecological restoration with embodied labour. Documentation will be shown at Clay Café and Glasgow Sculpture Studios during Doors Open Day, alongside a booklet distributed through the partnerships.
