Glasgow East covers a broad part of the city’s eastern side and includes a series of long-established residential communities and former industrial districts. The constituency stretches eastward from neighbourhoods relatively close to the city centre toward the outer edge of Glasgow. Housing ranges from older tenement areas to large post-war estates and more recent development. Major road and rail routes cross the seat, reflecting its position on important east–west corridors through the city. Parks, former industrial land and river valleys create breaks in the built-up landscape. Overall, Glasgow East is a strongly urban constituency made up of several distinct neighbourhoods rather than one separate town centre.

CAVE (Cross-format Audio for Virtual Environments) is a R&D project exploring how spatial audio can make hybrid theatre—work experienced both in a venue and online—more engaging. Working in with XR Networks+, the Traverse Theatre, and the University of Edinburgh’s CoSTAR Realtime Lab, I will deliver a public work-in-progress sharing on 28 August. The event will include a short work adapted for hybrid audiences, plus contributions from 2 guest speakers in the field. The event is being supported by the Traverse and is intended to align with their wider Festival program. While the underlying technical research is funded, I am seeking Creative Scotland support to collaborate with a Scotland-based theatre artist to put the research into practice. Funding will cover fair fees for organisation, licensing and r&d time. The project will produce a tested workflow and a short report to share with theatre practitioners in Scotland, supporting skills development and audience access.
