Falkirk constituency is centred on the town of Falkirk and includes a broad area of neighbouring communities in the central belt of Scotland. It contains much of the Falkirk urban area together with places such as Grangemouth-adjacent suburbs, Camelon, Larbert-area communities and settlements extending toward the Forth valley. The constituency is predominantly urban and suburban, but contains significant open land and former industrial landscapes between towns. The Forth and Clyde Canal, major railways and motorway routes are important physical features, reflecting Falkirk’s long role as a transport and industrial centre. Falkirk town provides the principal commercial focus, while surrounding communities retain distinct local identities within a closely connected urban region.
