About this award
OH!CON will be a day-long comic con held in Stornoway in two venues; An Lanntair and Stornoway Town Hall. We aim to provide a full and varied programme: •Talks and workshops, given by our invited guests from the creative industries. •OH!CONversations – smaller, informal talks given by our volunteers •Gaming sessions – board games, TTRPG, war games, TCG, video games, and VR •Two cosplay masquerades – giving attendees the opportunity to show off their costumes •Art competition – open to entries from across the islands •Drop-in arts and craft activities – make your own comic, badges, Lego, plasticine •Prop and costume displays – many created by our volunteers •Quiet room and library – an opportunity to chill out •The OH!CON quiz - a pub quiz for nerds, raising money for charity •Things we find difficult to categorise – soft axe throwing, talk like a Dalek, escape puzzle and more We hope to work with Taigh Chearsabhagh again to simultaneously deliver some OH!CON activities in North Uist. We also hope to live stream some talks again.

About this award
Three books which have been finding their shapes over a period of many years will be published as a staggered programme of related but contrasting work. A new and uncollected poems – ' and other shores'. A linked grouping of short stories – 'How to tow an island' and an exploratory work combining prose, poetry and traveller's narrative – 'Where the stories lie' are expected to appear in the two year period. To complete an ambitious but strongly integrated programme I will need a small element of equipment upgrade, a small but vital element of exhibition presentation costs and funding for travel and subsistence – partly to conclude research and partly to enable meetings, associated events, performances and exhibitions. Funding to pay collaborators will also build on long-established practice to make cross-arts works in their own right as well as serving audience development for the books.
