East Renfrewshire lies immediately south of Glasgow and includes suburban communities such as Newton Mearns, Giffnock, Clarkston, Busby and Eaglesham, together with more rural areas farther south and west. The northern part forms a continuous suburban extension of Greater Glasgow, with established residential neighbourhoods and strong road and rail links into the city. Beyond those suburbs, the landscape becomes more open, with farmland, reservoirs and moorland around smaller settlements. Newton Mearns is one of the largest centres, while Giffnock and Clarkston provide separate local focuses closer to Glasgow. The constituency therefore combines affluent outer suburbs with a sizeable rural fringe rather than being uniformly urban.

About this award
I am seeking funding to support the recording and self-release of my next two singles, scheduled for release in Autumn 2026. After the release of my debut album in 2024, and gaining traction from last year’s SAY award nominations, this project marks the next stage in developing my artistic career, giving me the opportunity to create, produce, and share new music that reflects my evolving sound and creative vision. The funding will cover essential costs including studio hire and a professional sound engineer, payments for session musicians, production of two music videos including dancers and a choreographer. Since the album's release in 2024, I’ve been diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain and suspected fibromyalgia. This has affected my ability to perform live. This project will enable me to focus on the writing, arranging + recording of 2 new compositions, and overall creative vision while collaborating with other art forms to sustain my career.

About this award
I am seeking funding to allow me to attend my first Moniak Mhor tutored retreat in November 2026 - 'Quiet Retreat with Kapka Kassabova and Caoimhe Keohane'. Since becoming a mother, my writing has taken place in the small slices of time which are available to a parent working full time, navigating mental health challenges and juggling childcare. The mental load of motherhood is well documented, and in order to further my creative work I seek the space, professional input and time to finalise my manuscript draft. The retreat offers a quiet tutored experience with Kapka Kassabova, to focus deeply on being present while writing. Every day will start with a silent morning and guided meditation followed by quiet writing time and one-to-one tutorials each afternoon to refine and hone to work. The funding will serves two purposes - to finish a first draft of my manuscript 'Resistance', and research and develop ideas for the next year of Postpartum Poems.
