East Londonderry stretches from the north coast of Northern Ireland south through much of the Causeway Coast and Glens area. It includes Coleraine and Limavady together with coastal towns and villages such as Portstewart and communities around the lower Bann and Roe valleys. Coleraine is the largest urban and service centre, while Limavady provides another important town farther west. Outside these centres, settlement is more dispersed across farmland, river valleys and coastal countryside. The Atlantic coast, Bann estuary and upland areas toward the Sperrins give the constituency a varied physical geography. The seat therefore combines university, market and coastal towns with a substantial rural hinterland.
