Household composition

A broad view of household types in this constituency. Project Open Gov uses the four broad groups supplied by the Commons Library so the presentation remains consistent across the UK.

Families with dependent children39.6% · 17,840 households
Other single-family households30.5% · 13,748 households

Household-composition figures come from the Commons Library constituency dataset. The source uses census data and Project Open Gov displays its broad household groups rather than attempting to harmonise the detailed categories itself. View household-composition source ↗

Disability and day-to-day activities

The source records whether day-to-day activities are limited and uses separate person-level tables for England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

120,808 people in the source baseCensus 2021Source comparison: England & Wales
Day-to-day activities limited a lot5.8% · 7,030 people
Day-to-day activities limited a little7.8% · 9,448 people
Not disabled under the Equality Act86.4% · 104,330 people

Comparison note: the workbook uses different source terminology across the UK: England & Wales uses “Disabled under the Equality Act”, while Scotland and Northern Ireland use “Disabled” / “Non-disabled”. Project Open Gov therefore preserves the source categories and does not present them as one single like-for-like UK legal definition.

Disability figures come from the Commons Library constituency workbook. This profile uses the person-level tables only; the workbook also contains separate household-level disability tables which are not used here. View disability source ↗

Preserving Nigerian Musical Heritage in the Diaspora

Occumind Initiative CIC

£53,045

The National Lottery Heritage Fund · Heritage

About this award

Through Preserving Nigerian Musical Heritage in the Diaspora, we will safeguard, document and share traditional Nigerian musical heritage that is at risk of being lost within UK diaspora communities. We will record the histories, traditional techniques, songs and language held by elders and cultural practitioners. Much of this knowledge is undocumented in the UK and, as recognised in wider heritage practice, intangible traditions that rely on oral transmission are particularly vulnerable when knowledge holders age. There is real risk of permanent loss. The project will create publicly accessible digital archive of professionally recorded material, ensuring long-term preservation and open access. Alongside this, we will deliver structured heritage-learning workshops for youth aged 16–25, focused on cultural meaning, historical context and transmission. By the end of the project, Nigerian musical heritage will be preserved, accessible and embedded within the UK’s public cultural record, strengthening intergenerational continuity and reducing risk of heritage loss.
