Tamworth is the principal commercial and transport centre, with a historic core, extensive residential development and major employment areas. Road links connect the town with Birmingham, Lichfield and the wider Midlands motorway network. The River Tame and open spaces provide breaks within the built environment, while development becomes lower-density toward the outer edge. Overall, the seat combines one substantial town with a modest semi-rural fringe.
