The project will provide additional equipment to enhance delivery of yoga for older people. Items will include chairs, blankets, bolsters, blocks, mats, belts, knee supports, cushions, speaker and air conditioning units. The equipment will improve the comfort of participants attending multiple weekly sessions, and enable the delivery of adapted classes such as seated yoga.

This project will resurface five tennis courts with artificial grass suitable for all-weathers. Improved court surfaces will help to make tennis more accessible for older adults and people with long-term health conditions with the introduction of walking tennis. Junior coaching will also be expanded, including to girls. 500 participants will benefit. Funding will be used for the resurfacing works.

Big Top is a community heritage programme integral to Southport’s wider cultural programme in 2026. The programme takes inspiration from Southport’s long and distinctive entertainment heritage, including popular spectacle, performance, circus and public gathering, and uses this as a starting point for locally rooted heritage activity. Through Big Top, community groups are invited to explore, interpret and share the stories, places, memories and traditions that have shaped Southport as a place of leisure, creativity and collective experience. It will encourage projects that recognise heritage as something people value and want to pass on to future generations. The results of this project will be installed in a new permanent exhibition in the Atkinson Museum.
