Household composition

A broad view of household types in this constituency. Project Open Gov uses the four broad groups supplied by the Commons Library so the presentation remains consistent across the UK.

Families with dependent children31.6% · 13,962 households
Other single-family households38.4% · 16,970 households

Household-composition figures come from the Commons Library constituency dataset. The source uses census data and Project Open Gov displays its broad household groups rather than attempting to harmonise the detailed categories itself. View household-composition source ↗

Disability and day-to-day activities

The source records whether day-to-day activities are limited and uses separate person-level tables for England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

113,014 people in the source baseCensus 2021Source comparison: England & Wales
Day-to-day activities limited a lot8.7% · 9,817 people
Day-to-day activities limited a little11.1% · 12,539 people
Not disabled under the Equality Act80.2% · 90,658 people

Comparison note: the workbook uses different source terminology across the UK: England & Wales uses “Disabled under the Equality Act”, while Scotland and Northern Ireland use “Disabled” / “Non-disabled”. Project Open Gov therefore preserves the source categories and does not present them as one single like-for-like UK legal definition.

Disability figures come from the Commons Library constituency workbook. This profile uses the person-level tables only; the workbook also contains separate household-level disability tables which are not used here. View disability source ↗

Swale from the water

Raybel Charters Community Interest Company

£16,475

The National Lottery Heritage Fund · Heritage

About this award

Raybel Charters is a maritime heritage community company. Our work is based around themes of water, trade, transport, heritage, nature and people. We undertook the restoration of Sailing Barge Raybel on Milton Creek, where she was built in 1920. The restoration won the 2025 National Historic Ships Award for Conservation Excellence. Approaching our second sailing season, this project will test a new idea of ‘themed sails’ as a core part of our community offer. We want to provide these at very low cost, so as not to restrict access for people on lower incomes, and to encourage as much uptake as possible. This will help us establish levels of demand and learn more about the offer we need to be providing long term. The communities we are targeting, close to Milton Creek and on the Isle of Sheppey, are amongst the 10% most deprived in Kent, and nationally.
