Richmond Park covers a broad part of south-west London around Richmond, Barnes and neighbouring communities. The constituency is predominantly suburban and residential, with strong rail links and several distinct local centres. Richmond Park is the defining physical feature, providing one of London’s largest areas of open space and separating some neighbourhoods from one another. The River Thames also shapes much of the western and northern edge, with riverside communities and parks adding to the greener character. The seat remains firmly part of Greater London but has a lower-density form than many inner-city constituencies.
