New Forest East covers the eastern part of the New Forest area in Hampshire and includes communities along the western shore of Southampton Water together with villages and forest settlements inland. Much of the constituency lies within or beside the New Forest National Park, giving woodland, heathland and open grazing land a major role in its landscape. Larger settlements provide local service centres, while many smaller communities are dispersed through the forest and coastal fringe. Road and rail links connect the area with Southampton, Bournemouth and the wider south coast. The seat therefore combines suburban and coastal communities with extensive protected countryside.
