Mitcham and Morden covers the eastern and central parts of the London Borough of Merton. It is centred on the neighbouring communities of Mitcham and Morden and includes extensive residential neighbourhoods, local shopping centres and major transport links. Mitcham has a long-established town centre and large areas of housing, while Morden is strongly associated with its Underground terminus and surrounding suburban development. Parks, commons and playing fields provide significant open space within the constituency, particularly around Mitcham. The seat is predominantly suburban and forms part of continuous south London, but its green spaces and lower-density districts distinguish it from more densely built inner-London constituencies.
