Maldon constituency covers a broad part of coastal and rural Essex and is centred on the historic town of Maldon. It extends across the Dengie peninsula and surrounding communities, with the Blackwater and Crouch estuaries strongly shaping the landscape. Maldon is the principal town and service centre, while smaller settlements and villages are widely dispersed among farmland, marshes and low-lying coastal countryside. The constituency has a long shoreline but relatively little continuous urban development outside Maldon and a few larger villages. Road links connect the area with Chelmsford and the wider Essex region. Overall, the seat has a strongly rural and estuarine character.
