Liverpool Wavertree covers a broad part of south-east Liverpool and includes neighbourhoods around Wavertree, Picton, Kensington and surrounding communities. The constituency is densely urban, with terraced streets, suburban housing, local shopping centres and major road and rail routes. Areas closer to the city centre have a more inner-urban character, while neighbourhoods farther south and east become more suburban and greener. Parks and open spaces provide important breaks in development. Wavertree itself forms one of several local centres rather than dominating the whole seat. The constituency therefore brings together a range of established south-east Liverpool neighbourhoods within one continuous urban area.
