Lewisham West and East Dulwich crosses the boundary between Lewisham and Southwark in south-east London. It brings together residential neighbourhoods around Forest Hill, Sydenham and parts of Lewisham with East Dulwich and surrounding communities. The constituency is predominantly urban but varies from dense streets and local high streets to greener, lower-density areas around hills and parks. Rail routes are important for travel toward central London, while several distinct town centres serve the different neighbourhoods. Open spaces and elevated ground create noticeable breaks in development. The seat therefore links established south-east London communities across two boroughs rather than being centred on a single town.
