Hornsey and Friern Barnet crosses parts of Haringey and Barnet in north London. It brings together Hornsey, Crouch End and neighbouring communities with Friern Barnet and surrounding suburban districts. The southern and western neighbourhoods are densely built and closely connected to inner London, while the northern and eastern parts generally have a more suburban form. Several local town centres serve the different communities, and parks, playing fields and wooded spaces create significant breaks in development. Rail and bus routes provide links toward central London and other parts of the capital. The constituency therefore combines several established north London neighbourhoods rather than one dominant town centre.
