Honiton and Sidmouth covers a broad part of east Devon and is centred on the market town of Honiton and the coastal town of Sidmouth. It also contains smaller towns, villages and rural communities spread across the Otter valley and surrounding countryside. Sidmouth has a strong seaside and resort character on the English Channel, while Honiton is an inland service and transport centre. Much of the constituency is rural, with farmland, wooded valleys and rolling hills separating settlements. Parts of the coastline lie within the Jurassic Coast area. The seat therefore combines two distinct towns with villages and extensive countryside rather than forming one continuous urban corridor.
