Household composition

A broad view of household types in this constituency. Project Open Gov uses the four broad groups supplied by the Commons Library so the presentation remains consistent across the UK.

One-person households30.4% · 12,538 households
Families with dependent children23.5% · 9,709 households
Other single-family households44.1% · 18,218 households

Household-composition figures come from the Commons Library constituency dataset. The source uses census data and Project Open Gov displays its broad household groups rather than attempting to harmonise the detailed categories itself. View household-composition source ↗

Disability and day-to-day activities

The source records whether day-to-day activities are limited and uses separate person-level tables for England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

92,072 people in the source baseCensus 2021Source comparison: England & Wales
Day-to-day activities limited a lot7.4% · 6,798 people
Day-to-day activities limited a little10.9% · 10,062 people
Not disabled under the Equality Act81.7% · 75,212 people

Comparison note: the workbook uses different source terminology across the UK: England & Wales uses “Disabled under the Equality Act”, while Scotland and Northern Ireland use “Disabled” / “Non-disabled”. Project Open Gov therefore preserves the source categories and does not present them as one single like-for-like UK legal definition.

Disability figures come from the Commons Library constituency workbook. This profile uses the person-level tables only; the workbook also contains separate household-level disability tables which are not used here. View disability source ↗

About this award

Our project will enable a deeper understanding of the abbey’s cultural heritage, enhancing the experience for visitors today and future generations. Conserving a unique collection of internationally renowned medieval panel paintings and a rare assembly of grave covers will transform access to their stories via interactive technology and interpretative display. Digital interpretation of the crypt, panels and other treasures will safeguard the heritage from climate change impacts and improve access. Sensitive lighting will illuminate the panels, whilst protecting them from degradation. Refurbishment of the Slype will improve the visitor welcome and significantly improve energy efficiency. Improved digital signage and an updated activity programme for visitors will reduce barriers to access, encourage participation by more diverse audiences and be inclusive for people with additional needs. Organisational sustainability will be strengthened by new increased visitor numbers and contributions, skills development and training for staff and volunteers. An engagement programme will connect communities with their heritage.
