Hamble Valley covers a broad area of southern Hampshire between Southampton and Portsmouth. It includes suburban and semi-rural communities around the River Hamble, together with settlements stretching toward the Solent and inland through parts of the wider South Hampshire area. The river and its marinas give the constituency a strong maritime character, while woodland, farmland and green gaps separate several of the larger settlements. Some communities are closely connected to Southampton or Fareham, whereas others retain distinct village or small-town centres. Major motorway and rail corridors cross nearby, providing strong regional links. Overall, the seat combines commuter suburbs, riverside settlements and countryside rather than one continuous urban centre.
