Local context
Gillingham and Rainham covers the eastern part of the Medway urban area in north Kent. It is centred on Gillingham and Rainham and includes neighbourhoods such as Twydall, Hempstead and Wigmore. Gillingham is the larger and denser urban centre, with strong railway and road links and a long association with the wider Medway towns. Rainham lies farther east and has a more suburban character, with development becoming lower-density toward the Kent countryside. The constituency is largely built up, but parks, farmland and open land remain around its outer edge. It therefore links two distinct Medway centres within one continuous urban and suburban corridor.

This project will see the installation of a rooftop solar (PV) system to help reduce the electricity costs. The system size and specification have been determined using site data, including current electricity consumption and roof layout, to ensure the system is appropriately sized to maximise on-site usage and financial return.

Woodlands Warriors Wheelchair Rugby League
This project will deliver 2 programmes using wheelchair rugby league to encourage fitness. The first will be fully inclusive (mixed) and second will be solely for females. The mixed programme will be run on a Tuesday evening and the girls/ladies programme on a Friday evening on a weekly basis. Costs requested for staff costs, admin, facility hire, promotion and equipment.

Sunlight Development Trust Limited
We wish to improve knowledge of the history of Medway with a reflective study of oral history from local community members who a) saved the 120 year old former Sunlight Laundry from demolition b) converted it to become the Sunlight Centre (one of the first healthy living community centers), c) remember their family members working in the laundry and what Gillingham was like 120 years ago. In addition, we wish to conduct a desk based research project regarding where the water supply came from for the laundry and what was the site like before the laundry was built. Our findings will be made into a on display to enhance in our community center for local residents, then circulated on tour and passed to Medway Archives for safekeeping at the end of the project
