Local context
Filton and Bradley Stoke covers the northern edge of the Bristol urban area within South Gloucestershire. It includes Filton, Bradley Stoke, Patchway, Stoke Gifford and neighbouring suburban communities. The constituency is predominantly urban and suburban, with large areas of post-war and more recent housing alongside major employment and transport sites. Filton has a long association with aerospace and aviation-related industry, while Bradley Stoke is a substantial modern residential town. The M4 and M5 motorways, main railway lines and the wider Bristol transport network cross the area. Although green spaces remain between some neighbourhoods, the seat forms part of the continuous northern Bristol conurbation rather than a rural district.
