Faversham and Mid Kent combines the historic market town of Faversham with a broad area of central Kent countryside and communities east of Maidstone. It includes villages and smaller settlements spread across farmland, orchards and the North Downs, while Faversham provides the principal town and transport centre toward the north. The constituency reaches from the Thames estuary side of Kent inland toward the county town, producing a varied landscape of coastal marshes, agricultural land and chalk downland. Some communities are closely linked to Maidstone, while others retain a more rural character. Overall, the seat is dispersed and mixed, with one significant market town and numerous villages rather than a single continuous urban area.
