Fareham and Waterlooville crosses parts of Hampshire between Portsmouth and Southampton. It combines suburban communities around Fareham with areas toward Waterlooville and neighbouring settlements, forming part of the wider South Hampshire urban region. Fareham provides an established town and transport centre near Portsmouth Harbour, while the eastern side is more closely connected to the Waterlooville and Portsmouth corridor. Residential neighbourhoods dominate much of the constituency, but woodland, farmland and open gaps remain between some settlements. Major motorway and road routes cross the area, providing links to Portsmouth, Southampton and the wider south coast. The seat therefore joins several suburban centres rather than one continuous town centre.
