Epping Forest constituency covers a broad part of south-west Essex immediately beyond the London boundary. It includes towns and communities such as Loughton, Epping, Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill and Waltham Abbey, together with smaller villages and rural areas. The ancient woodland of Epping Forest is a defining physical feature, running through the western side and separating or bordering several settlements. Loughton and Buckhurst Hill have a strongly suburban and commuter character, while Epping and communities farther east are surrounded by more open countryside. Major rail and road links provide easy access toward London. The constituency therefore combines outer-suburban towns with woodland, green belt and rural Essex landscapes.
