Crewe and Nantwich combines two neighbouring Cheshire towns with the communities immediately around them. Crewe is the larger urban and railway centre, while Nantwich is a distinct historic market town to the south-west. The constituency also includes Haslington, Shavington, Willaston, Wistaston and Leighton, linking the two towns through a mixture of suburban development, villages and open land. Crewe’s growth has long been shaped by the railway and associated industry, giving it a different physical character from Nantwich’s older centre. Outside the principal towns, the landscape quickly becomes part of the Cheshire Plain, with farmland and smaller settlements surrounding the built-up areas.
