Cramlington and Killingworth crosses three local-authority areas in the North East. It is centred on Cramlington in Northumberland and Killingworth in North Tyneside, and also includes Camperdown, Weetslade, Seghill, Seaton Delaval, Holywell and Hartley, together with a small part of northern Newcastle. Much of the constituency is suburban or semi-urban, with Cramlington’s planned neighbourhoods forming its largest concentration of population. Killingworth and the North Tyneside communities connect the seat toward the Tyneside conurbation, while villages and open land separate parts of the Northumberland section. The result is a cross-boundary constituency linking outer Tyneside with the settled south-east corner of Northumberland.
