Chorley constituency is centred on the Lancashire town of Chorley and includes a broad area of surrounding villages and suburban communities. It reaches through places such as Adlington, Coppull, Euxton, Eccleston and Croston and toward the rural western and southern parts of Chorley borough. Chorley is the main commercial and transport centre, while the rest of the constituency contains a mixture of smaller settlements, farmland and commuter villages. The landscape becomes more open toward the West Pennine Moors in the east and the Lancashire plain in the west. This gives the seat a mixed character rather than a purely urban one, despite the concentration of population around Chorley itself.
